Associate General Counsel – Healthcare 

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Associate General Counsel- Healthcare for Rutgers University Office of the Senior Vice President and General Counsel (“Office of General Counsel”). This position reports to the Senior Vice President and General Counsel as well as the Associate Vice President and Deputy General Counsels, particularly the Associate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Health Care. The Associate General Counsel is primarily assigned to advise Rutgers University’s health sciences schools, institutes and centers.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Provides legal representation for Rutgers University in various areas including, negotiating and advising on contracts, clinical services agreements, academic affiliation agreements professional services agreements and other transactional matters; health law/risk management issues.
  • Advises on regulatory compliance matters including Stark/Anti-Kickback and patient privacy.
  • Participates in training and preventative law presentations for Rutgers University faculty, staff, administration and governance boards.
  • Provides advice, education, and counsel regarding litigation, subpoenas, and general higher education legal issues.
