South Asian Bar Association of New Jersey -
The South Asian Bar Association of New Jersey (SABA-NJ), an official chapter of the North American South Asian Bar Association (NASABA), is a voluntary bar association serving primarily South Asian attorneys and law students in New Jersey.
 
SABA-NJ's mission is to:
  • Serve as the regional voice for the concerns and opinions of South Asians in the community generally, and in the legal profession in particular 
  • Provide a forum for professional networking and development, legal scholarship and education, and advocacy and community involvement 
  • Promote the advancement of lawyers and students of South Asian heritage in the legal profession 
  • Increase awareness and encourage resolution of issues of concern for the South Asian community 
  • Support the provision of legal services to the South Asian community 
  • Ensure fairness and diversity in judicial appointments 
  • Develop mechanisms, such as continuing legal education (CLE) seminars, to facilitate and foster the exchange of ideas and information among South Asians in the legal profession 
  • Work with other bar associations, governmental agencies and community groups to achieve greater involvement in and understanding of the American legal system by the South Asian community 
  • Encourage and promote the success of South Asian law students through mentoring and participation in scholarship opportunities
 
 
Chapter Membership requirements are as follows:
(1) Must live or work in New Jersey; and
(2) Have earned a J.D. (or equivalent) or be a matriculated student in such programs.
